Projects and Programs

Through the generous support of donors, HON currently facilitates the funding of several projects and programs in Sri Lanka.

You can make a tax deductible or non-tax deductible donation into one of our bank accounts, as explained on the Donate page, and we will apply your donation to one of our projects or programs, as appropriate. Or, you can contact us and nominate a project or program, or part of a project or program, you would like to support, either by a one-off donation or on an ongoing basis, and we will make that happen for you.

Please note that tax deductibility is available for donations to our tutoring/educational programs only.

HON currently sponsors the accommodation and education of a number of children in schools that offer the children greater opportunities than they would receive if they were to stay in their local village schools.

There are many more children from disadvantaged backgrounds who would likewise benefit from this kind of sponsorship. The more children we can lift up in this way, enabling them to receive a quality education, the greater the chance we have of breaking the cycle of disadvantage and poverty.

HON will provide sponsors with periodic progress reports about sponsored children.

For more information on how to become a sponsor, contact us.

What can you buy for a dollar? A quarter of a cup of coffee! If you're like many of us, you pick up a coffee (or two) a day without a thought. HON's dollar-a-day campaign challenges supporters to put aside - you guessed it - just one dollar a day - or $365 a year. Those small gold coins go a long way to help meet the basic needs of disadvantaged kids in Sri Lanka. To get involved, contact us and one of our team members will get in touch with you as soon as possible!

HON is all about driving change. Even the smallest difference is a difference worth making, which is why we have launched "Change for Change". Your small change (even those 10 and 20 cent pieces!) can make a big change in the lives of children in need. This is a great way for kids to get involved by collecting their spare change in a jar. If you would like a special "Change for Change" jar for this purpose, please contact us and one of our team members will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

Anyone can get involved in HON as a volunteer. There are opportunities to be part of our administrative team or volunteer as fundraisers or gift packers -  and more! There are also opportunities to volunteer on the ground in Sri Lanka. If you'd like to find out more about how you can get involved, contact us!

The annual Packing Day provides a hands-on way to get involved in the Gift Project. Each year, hundreds of individuals come together at the Carlingford High School Hall to pack thousands of gifts for orphaned and disadvantaged children across Sri Lanka. It's a fantastic opportunity for everyone, from kids right through to grown ups, to get involved in making a difference through something real and tangible.
